• What does it cost?

  We have a choice of packages; Starter, Business, Pro Seller and Pro Seller Plus.

  The monthly fee for these, respectively are: £2.99, £4.99, £9.99 and £19.99, this includes having a small link to our website at the bottom of your pages.
  The monthly fee for these packages, if you'd prefer to not feature our link is £7.98, £9.98, £14.98 and £24.98.

  You can choose to pay yearly and get twelve months subscription for the price of ten; the cost for this, whilst displaying our link is: Starter – £29.90, Business – £49.90 Pro Seller – £99.90 and Pro Seller Plus - 199.90

  The yearly fee for these packages, if you'd prefer to not feature our link is £79.80, £99.80, 149.80 and 240.98.

  The only extra amount you would pay is for a domain name registration fee (should you wish to register a domain name through us), but this only applies if you do not already own a domain name that you would like to use with your website.

• What payment methods do you accept?

  We accept all major debit and credit cards, including UK debit cards such as Delta, Switch, Solo and VISA Electron.
• Can I upgrade my account at a later date?

  If you are an existing subscriber and pay us monthly by credit card then you can upgrade your account and amend your monthly payment automatically.

  All you have to do is login to your account, click "Your Account" on the top menu and select the option to "Change Your Account Level".

  If you pay for your account annually then please contact us regarding upgrading your account.
• Login problems?

  If you are experiencing difficulties logging in to your account it could be for a number of reasons.
  
  1. Incorrect Username and/or Password
  
  Ensure that you have typed in your username and password exactly as it was confirmed to you by email. If you have forgotton your username or password please visit www.create.net. Go to login to your account and then click 'Forgot Password'
  
  2. Incorrect Browser Settings and/or Cookies Disabled
  
  Our service requires cookies to function correctly. This is a common problem if you are using Internet Explorer 6 or above, in which case you need to take the following steps:
  
  a. In your browser go to the "Tools" menu, click "Internet Options" and, in the window that opens, select the "Privacy" tab.
  b. Towards the bottom of this screen, above the OK, Cancel and Apply buttons, there should be an "Edit" button. Click it.
  c. In the "Address of website" box enter login.create.net and click the "Allow" button. Then click "OK", and then "OK" again.
  
  3. Pop-up Blocker or Browser Security Settings
  
  The latest updates to Microsoft Internet Explorer and Windows XP Service Pack 2, including a built in pop-up blocker, can prevent you from using some of the advanced features required by Create. Follow these steps to correct this.
  
  a. Close down all Internet Explorer Windows
  b. Open a new Internet Explorer Window
  c. Go to the "Tools" menu and click "Internet Options"
  d. In the window that opens click the "Security" tab at the top
  e. Click "Trusted Sites" so that it is highlighted
  f. Click the "Sites" button that appears just below
  g. Add both www.create.net and login.create.net by typing them in the box and clicking the "Add" button.
  h. Click ok and then ok again to save the new settings
  
  If you are using another pop-up blocking program you will need to check the documentation for it and disable blocking for the two addresses mentioned above.
• What browsers and operating systems will DoYourOwnSite! work with?

  The DoYourOwnSite system can be used with a variety of browsers including:

  Internet Explorer (IE)
  Mozilla Firefox
  Google Chrome
  Safari

  We suggest that you always use the latest version of your chosen browser.

  We also recommend that for the best experience using Create and browsing the web in general, that you use FireFox.
  We appreciate that everybody has a preferred browser and you may wish to continue using your personal choice but we have found it is possible to avoid some issues by using a browser such as FireFox.

• Do you offer an affiliate program so that I can earn money by referring people to DoYourOwnSite!?

  Yes, we do offer an affiliate program. For each paying customer you refer you can earn 10% commission on all subscription payments they make for as long as they are subscribed to our service!

  For example, if you refer a customer who builds a website and chooses not to show the "DoYourOwnSite" logo and pays monthly for their subscription, you would earn £1.50 each month for as long as they pay.

  Once you have been accepted into the program, login with the username and password for the affiliate program, click on "Join New Merchants" and enter create in the search box. This will bring up our details and you should click the yellow button "Join". Once you have done this you can start adding links and graphics to your website or refer your friends by sending them your unique link.
• Can I work offline, or do I have to be online to use your service?

  DoYourOwnSite is a web-based system so you will need to be connected to the internet in order to use it. It is not a piece of software that you can download and install on your own computer.

  The advantage of this is that you can login to your account and administer your website from almost any internet-connected computer.

  It also means that you automatically get any new features we add to the system as there is no software on your computer that has to be updated.
• Do I have to install software on my computer to use DoYourOwnSite!?

  DoYourOwnSite is a web-based service and runs on our servers, therefore, you do not need to install the system or any software onto your computer in order to use it. You can access your account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by simply logging in.
  
• Will I have to build my website again from scratch if I subscribe?

  No, when you subscribe any work you have done on your website during your free trial will still remain in your account.
• Do you provide hosting for my website?

  Yes, the hosting for your website is included in your subscription.
  

Your Website

• Can I change my site after publishing?

  Once you publish your site you can still do everything that you have been able to do on the free trial and you can re-publish as often as you want, even several times a day if required.

  Nothing is set in stone, so if you wanted to change the colour scheme and layout of your site EVERY day for example, albeit unlikely, there is nothing stopping you!
  
• Can I have a message forum on my site?

  Unfortunately we do not currently offer a forum service. However there are many companies who do offer free forums that you could then link to from your DoYourOwnSite website. Try searching for "free forum" on your favourite search engine.
• Can I put whatever I want on my website?

  Generally speaking there are no restrictions imposed by us on what information you can publish on your website.

  We do however require that you agree to our terms and conditions and do not publish any unsuitable material including, but not limited to, pornography, racism and other offensive materials. You must also not publish any material that you do not hold the copyright to, or have express permission to publish from the copyright holder.
• Can I use a web designer to design my site?

  You can have a designer create a tailor-made design to your specification while allowing you to retain the existing level of control you currently have over the content of your website.

  To do this, you will need to log into your account and click onto the "Design" tab and then click 'WDK' "Web Designer's Development Kit" from the drop down menu.
  
• Can I update my website whenever I want?

  Yes, you can make changes and updates as often as you want. As long as you have access to the internet you can log in to your account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from anywhere in the world.
• Do you submit my site to the search engines?

  Unfortunately getting listed on the search engines can be quite a slow process, taking a few weeks to get on to some of the major search engines. The search engines are pretty much a law unto themselves about when or even if they list you in their databases.

  If you haven't already done so, you can use our submission service to automatically submit your site to Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask.

  To do this, login to your account, click "Preview/ Publish" on the top menu, and then "Submit To Search Engines" on the left hand menu.

  Once you have read and agreed to the statements click on the button "Submit My Site" and we will do the rest.

  On this screen you can also select whether you wish for your site to be submitted to the search engines each time you "publish to web". To choose this option tick the relevant box before clicking the "Submit My Site" button.
• Can I have a Blog facility?

  Yes, there is a Blog facility provided with the Business and Pro Seller packages.

Your Shop

• How do I accept credit & debit card payments?

  To accept credit and debit card payments through your online shop you will need to set-up an account with a payment processing company.

  Online shops built with Create can integrate with up to 3 different payment processing companies, so it is a good idea to choose ones which compliment each other and provide your customers with a choice of payment methods.

  Our system is designed to make integrating with your chosen payment processing company very simple and we have tutorials to take you through the required steps if you get stuck.

• How many shop products can I have?

  Depending on which package you choose, the Business package offers up to 100 shop products, the Pro Seller package offers up to 10,000 shop products and the Pro Seller Plus package offers up to 20,000 shop products.

• Can I sell downloadable products in my shop?

  You can sell downloadable files in your shop, to do so you will need to use our new "Downloadable Products" feature.

  This feature is currently in Beta Testing, so you will need to add yourself to the Beta in order to use it. To do this please visit the Create Community at:

  Once you have added the BETA you will be able to start selling your digital goods.

  To add a new downloadable file to your shop, please follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your Create account and go to your
  "Shop" page.

  2. Choose "Downloadables" from your left-hand menu.

  3. You should then choose "New Downloadable" from the left-hand menu and fill in the appropriate product description.
• What is the Create Marketplace?

  The Create Marketplace is a place where you can list all the products you sell in your shop.

  All Create members can access the Marketplace and we hope it will encourage you all to buy and sell from each other and support small businesses.

  Create members can access the Marketplace by clicking on the Community tab on the top menu or by visiting https://login.create.net/marketplace/
• Can I sell ebooks through my online shop?

  It is quick and easy to start selling ebooks in your online store with our "Downloadables" feature.

  If you already have the "Downloadables" feature then you can start selling your ebooks straight away.

  To list an ebook for sale in your online shop, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Click on "Shop" on the top menu.

  2. Click on "Downloadables" on the left-hand menu (if you don't have this feature already you will be prompted to add it to your account.

  3. You will now be in the "Downloadables Control Panel".

  4. Click the "Add Downloadable" button.

  5. Upload your ebook file by clicking the yellow "Browse" button and locating this on your computer.

  6. Complete the information in the tabbed sections as your require.

  7. Click "Add Product"

  Your ebook will now appear for sale in your live shop.

Domain Names & Email

• Can I use my existing domain name?

  There should be no problem using your existing domain name with your DoYourOwnSite website. When you subscribe to our service the first thing you will be asked is to choose your domain name.

  Below this is a button to press, titled "I already have my chosen domain name". Once you have subscribed, using this option, you will need to make the necessary arrangements to use your existing domain name with your new website.

  You can either choose to transfer your domain name entirely into our control or you can simply point your domain name towards your website.

  To transfer your domain name fully over to us you will need to contact us for further instructions.

  To point your domain name over to us you will need to contact the company who registered your domain name for you and ask them to "Change the DNS 'A Records' For your domain name to 194.187.56.56".

  If they gave you a username and password when you registered the domain name then you may be able to do this yourself, in which case they should provide you with the relevant instructions and support.

  If you did not enter your existing domain name when you subscribed then you will need to let us know what the domain name is so that we can link it to your account.

  Please note: Changing your domains "DNS settings" to point to your website should not affect any email service you may currently have set up with your registrar, and you do not need to make any changes to your email settings.
• Can I have a .com/.net/.org domain name?

  Yes, it is possible to register any of the following types of domain name either during the subscription process or later in your account.

  .co.uk
  .com
  .net
  .org
  .org.uk
  .me.uk
  .biz
  .info

  To register a domain name, please do the following:

  1. Click on 'Your Account' from the top menu

  2. Click on 'Manage Domain Names & Email'

  3. Select to 'Register a new Domain Name'

  4. You will then be guided through the process via on screen instructions

  - Once your domain name is registered you can also edit email settings and other domain name settings from the 'Manage Domain Names and Email Forwarding' screen.
• Can I register additional domain names for my site?

  You can register an additional domain name to use with your site.

  To do this please follow these instructions:

  1. Click on "Your Account" on the top menu

  2. Go to "Manage Domain Names & Email"

  3. Click on the link at the top of the page for "Register A New Domain Name"

  4. You will then be take through to choose your new domain name.

  - Tick the box next to the domain name/s you want to register. The more domain names you secure (.com, .co.uk), the more exclusive your brand will be on the internet.

  - Click the yellow "Okay, next step" button to be taken to enter your billing address and domain registration address details.

  -When you are happy, click "Okay, next step" to be taken to a summary page. If you are happy, click "Pay Now" to be taken to make your payment.

  - Once your domain name is registered you can also edit email settings and other domain name settings from the 'Manage Domain Names and Email Forwarding' screen.
• What is a domain name?

  A domain name is a unique name used to reference a website on the internet. For example DoYourOwnSite uses the domain name www.doyourownsite.co.uk
• Do I have to register my domain name with you?

  You can choose an alternative registrar to register your domain name.

  However, before you purchase the domain name, you will need to check that the registrar you are using can offer "DNS Management". This is so that you can point your domain name to your website by changing the "DNS "A" record" to our IP Address. This is important to check because this is how your domain name will work with your website.
  
• How much does it cost to register a domain name?

  The table below outlines our prices for all domain name registrations and renewals registered with our service.

  A domain name is initially registered for 2 years and can then be renewed as required every 2 years.

• Can I have an email address with my domain name?

  For domain names that are registered through our service we can offer "email forwarding".

  This means that "anything" you put before @yourdomainname can be forwarded to an existing email address of your choice.
• Can I change my domain name after I have registered it?

  Due to the nature of the domain names system, once registered it is not possible to change or edit your domain name.

  However, it is possible to register additional domain names and you can choose to register these through us from within your account.
• I already own my domain name, how do I use it with my Create website?

  If you have already registered a domain name which you want to point to your website you will need to add it to your Create account.
  
  To do this please follow the instructions below:
  
  1. Click on the "Your Account" tab on the top menu
  
  2. Click on "Manage Domain Names & Email"
  
  3. Click on the link for "Add Domain Name"
  
  4. Enter the domain name you want to add to your account without the "www." for example: create.net then click on "I own this domain" button.
  
  Your domain name should now display on your "Manage Domain Names & Email Forwarding" screen.
  
  Please Note: Before you add the domain name to your account you must ensure that you have set up the domain name's "DNS A Record" to point to our IP Address: 194.187.56.56. If you need help to do this then your registrar should offer support for this.
